“I want to help those who can’t afford their illness” – Laurie Mezzalingua

Dear Laurie’s Legacy

I wanted to say thank you for all that you have done for myself and my family. I can not tell you how much of a burden you have lifted off my shoulders by helping me pay the medical bills that resulted from my breast cancer.

Three years ago life as I knew it was over. I had just had a miscarriage and found out that I had breast cancer in the same week. I was in shock, scared and devastated to say the least. Thoughts of “What am I going to do” and “how is my family going to manage?” ran through my head.

I prayed hard, put my life in God’s hands and he placed the right people in my life.

A mastectomy, infections, pulmonary embolism, chemotherapy, radiation, broken ankle and leg, deep venous thrombosis, infection, abdominal revision, breast revision, left breast reduction and a total hysterectomy later, I am doing well. Thank you. I could not have done it without you!!

With greatest heartfelt thanks and admiration for what you do.

Hello.

I am 36 years old. I live in West Winfield with my husband and daughter.

In September 2013, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. In October 2013 I underwent surgery and reconstruction, and in November I started chemotherapy.

We are a single income family with decent health insurance. All my medical bills started coming in and we thought there is no way we can do this. It brought us to tears.

My husband was given a booklet on Laurie’s Legacy. As he read it, he thought we could at least get gas money and a few co-pays taken care of. Needless to say when we realized all of my medical bills could be taken care of we cried. This time our tears carried relief and much gratitude.

Laurie’s Legacy has helped my family and I more than I can explain. We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
