Oneida Health is an independent 101-bed acute care community hospital and a 160-bed extended-care facility (ECF) and short-term rehab facility licensed by the State of New York and operated by Oneida Health Systems, Inc., a New York not-for-profit corporation. The RN Quality Management Coordinator will assist in the clinical Quality Management program, Performance Improvement activities and education in the facility.
The RN Quality Management Coordinator will assume the responsibility to review and monitor documentation in resident records to ensure quality care and compliance.
The RN Quality Management Coordinator will develop, review, revise and implement policies and procedures within the Nursing Department.
The core component of this position will be to recognize the correlation between Policies and Procedures and Resident Care and insure that delivery of services is in accordance with those set policies and procedures. And when necessary, adjust or update the current Policy and Procedure to reflect proper elements of service delivery and educate to assure that both are in line and then periodically monitor the alignment of both to assure sustainability.
Typically works 8am – 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Days and hours may fluctuate to meet the needs of the facility as directed by the Director of Nursing.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Monitor resident care, analyze processes and procedures used in resident care and ensure all residents receive an exemplary level of care.
- Assume responsibility for reviewing admission and on-going resident documentation to ensure that it is completed correctly and that the Plan of Care is reflective of and appropriate to the assessment.
- Serve as a resource person on clinical, professional and reimbursement issues.
- Participate as requested in selective performance improvement activities.
- Assume responsibility for follow-up on problems or questions related to resident documentation.
- Responsible for chart audits, compiling of data and summarizing data for presentation at departmental meetings and quarterly meetings.
- Participate as appropriate in Performance Improvement Plan.
- Responsible for the development of nursing policy and procedures, of appropriate documentation and clinical standards and indicators as requested.
- Participate in problem identification/intervention/goals system for areas of responsibility.
- Perform special projects as assigned.
- Work in collaboration with the nursing staff to recognize areas to focus on to promote quality improvement.
- Work in conjunction with Staff Development to assure competence in job performance and promote professional development.
- Act as liaison with other departments to promote quality improvement.
- Coordinate and facilitate QA activities to promote quality resident outcomes and effective/efficient use of resources.
- Responsible for supervising and coordinating the administrative and clinical activities for the nursing department as directed by the Director of Nursing.
- Perform other duties as requested or directed by the Director of Nursing.
Qualifications and Skills
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, College or University.
- Current license/registration as Registered Nurse by NY State.
- Knowledge of Policy/Procedure development, QA process and Infection Control Standards as it relates to quality of care and systems analysis.
- Experience in Quality Management and demonstrated knowledge of QI and statistical analysis.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision/ management in a long-term clinical setting. History of progressively increasing responsibility/decision making ability.
- Ability to work independently evaluating clinical data and assessing trends to implement QI programs.
- Strong organizational skills and assertiveness to problem-solve, facilitate teamwork skills.
- Detail oriented and knowledgeable in clinical standard of practice.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.
- Thorough knowledge of multi-disciplinary, organizational and clinical aspects of resident care delivery.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Strong computer skills; preferably with a solid working knowledge of Word and Excel
