Provider Comings and Goings
Hello All, this week I want to take a moment to congratulate Dr. John Wight on his upcoming retirement. He has worked tirelessly throughout his career for the betterment of healthcare in the greater Oneida region.
Some of the highlights of his career include:
He started TriValley Family Practice Vernon in July of 1988. The land in Vernon was given to him by Norm Laube to bring a physician to the area. He was the only doctor in the office until 1995 when he recruited Dr. James Vanderhoof to partner with him.
In 1999 Dr. Wight purchased Dr. John Nebzydoski’s office in Canastota, also taking on Dr. Harry Capone.
In 2000 the TriValley Family Practice Canastota office was opened and he recruited Dr. Jeff Mulholland, Dr. Beth Wiedeman, and Dr. Deborah Meester.
Dr. Wight mentored many medical students and brought the Rural Medicine Program here to Oneida Health. This program is critical for a rural health organization as recruitment of physicians completing their training is quite challenging with them having so many options. If they come out here and work and like the environment, we have a much better chance of recruiting them when they finish their training.
All three of his children are physicians. Two work for Oneida Health, Dr. Erin Thompson and Dr. Andrew Wight, and his son Brian Wight is a radiologist in Rochester.
Clearly Dr. Wight has left his mark on our medical community and his legacy will carry on for a long time. I understand he is a golfer and will now turn some of that energy into burning up the golf course! Very best wishes in your retirement Dr. Wight!

Dr. Tripp will be joining us at month’s end, adding to our cadre of OB/GYN physicians. This will give us added flexibility in our busy practice. Welcome, Dr. Tripp! Also welcome to Donna Gregory, Nurse Practitioner who has also joined the OB/GYN practice.
I also want to welcome Marc Flury, Director of Quality, and Beth Cable, Social Work Manager at the ECF. We are excited that these two folks have joined the leadership team at OH and look forward to their contributions to the organization.
Sincerely,
Chuck Gijanto
