The Extended Care Facility (ECF) at Oneida Health is more than a nursing home. While we provide the highest level of medical and custodial care that only a skilled nursing facility can offer. We provide live-in, long-term and short-term rehabilitation that can give patients the intensive occupational, physical and speech therapy they need to regain their independence. Exceptional Care and Quality of Life
Residents at the ECF are cared for by board-certified physicians and a staff of skilled nurses 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. In addition to providing high-quality medical care, these nurses also help with tasks such as getting in and out of bed, and providing assistance with feeding, bathing and dressing.
Beyond medical care, the staff strives to provide emotional and spiritual care to improve the quality of each resident’s life. It it the staff’s goal to make ECF a homelike setting with lots of opportunities for enjoyment, stimulation, and growth. Patients enjoy trips, greenhouses, wine tasting, shopping, crafts, barbecues, gardens that residents participate in planting, intergenerational programs with children, outdoor activities, holiday and family events, and many other activities. Some of our patients even enjoy (and benefit from) playing video games and the connections they develop with the pets in our facility.
The quality of care at Oneida ECF is reflected in our significantly low employee turnover rate. Many of our nurses have been with us for years due to their passion and commitment to caring for our residents and patients. Visitors at the ECF regularly comment on the sense of family they observe, and on the calm, comfortable, and cheery setting that our team has managed to create.
