Child Birth Education

Knowing that pregnancy and birth can be demanding on your body and mind, Lamaze seeks to help build your confidence and ensure that you have the support you need during pregnancy and birth. You’ve likely received a lot of information from many resources, and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. We’ll help you evaluate these resources to make safe and healthy choices that are best for you and your baby.

Located on the OHC Campus, on what used to be the Wee Care Building, we can offer you birth practices and strategies to ensure that you feel continuously supported during labor and birth. Although this may not your standard Lamaze curriculum, we encourage bonding between you and your baby, with the importance of skin-to-skin contact and time to get to know your new baby after birth.

We are here to help you stay safe and healthy by providing information on:

  • Anatomy and body changes
  • Pregnancy terminology
  • Stages of labor
  • Signs and symptoms of pre-term labor
  • Viewing a birth video (C-Section and Vaginal)
  • Positioning and relaxation techniques to manage labor
  • Pain management options
  • Breast feeding
  • Newborn care
  • Hospital tours

What is the Schedule?

  1. 6 consecutive weekly classes on Tuesdays from 6-8 pm.
  2. 1 week off
  3. Start a new cycle

You can register for our child birth education classes by calling the Oneida Health OB Unit at (315) 361-2065.
