Holter monitors are similar to an ECG; however they provide a 24 hour record of the electrical activity of the heart. Holter Monitor testing is provided for patients 16 years old and older.
Echocardiograms are sonograms of the heart. They use sound waves to evaluate the movement of the heart muscle and valves. Echocardiograms are provided for patients 16 years old and older.
Cardiac Stress Testing
Cardiac stress tests evaluate the fitness of the heart using either exercise or medication to measure how the heart responds to work. Cardiac stress testing is provided for patients 16 years and older and includes studies such as Stress Echocardiogram, Dobutamine Stress Echocardiograms, and standard stress tests. The Cardiopulmonary Department works in cooperation with the Nuclear Medicine unit of the Radiology Department to provide Nuclear Cardiac Stress tests for those patients who cannot walk on a treadmill.
An EEG is a test that measures brain function by recording electrical impulses in the brain. EEGs are used to detect abnormalities following head injury, neurological effects after a stroke and epilepsy and other seizure disorders. EEGs are performed on any age group.
